Super Rugby AU: Predictions and fixtures – Round 2

Super Rugby AU continues with round two Down Under this weekend, as the Australian sides continue their post Covid-19 lockdown resumption alongside their New Zealand counterparts.

Week two of the rebooted competition also sees a return to action on the big stage for the Western Force, who were hoofed from the full Super Rugby tournament ahead of the 2018 season.

They enter the domestic version with a trip to face the New South Wales Waratahs on Saturday (kick off 11.15 SAST).

Their hosts went down 32-26 at the hands of the Queensland Reds on the opening weekend in Brisbane, ahead of their return to home comforts at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The men from Perth will have to adapt quickly to the rigours of Super Rugby following their flight from the west coast.

Friday sees a clash between the Melbourne Rebels and the Reds at the Brookvale Oval (kick off 11.05).

While the Reds came up with an opening victory at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on the opening weekend, the Rebels were edged out 31-23 by the Brumbies at the GIO Stadium.

The Brumbies take their first bye of the new event this weekend with that win safely banked.

Prediction methodology explained

The expected win percentage is based off publicly available odds. For example, if a team’s odds are 2.30, the expected chance of winning is 43%. If the odds are 1.62 the expected chance of winning is 62% and so on. These are accurate at the time of writing but are subject to change. Where there is no value listed, the odds were not available at the time of writing.

The predicted points margin draws on calculations from by a New Zealand statistician.
