The Sims 4 T.O.O.L Mod by TwistedMexi is one of the most powerful tools in any builder’s arsenal. If you are not familiar with the mod, its longer name is Take Objects Off Lot (T.O.O.L) – and it allows builders to just that and so much more.
With the T.O.O.L Mod for The Sims 4, you can edit the exterior of apartments – meaning you can change windows, doors (still retaining their functionality) – and take the sizing up and down of objects to levels way beyond what the standard resize options of the game allows.
The T.O.O.L Mod is pretty amazing as it is, but currently, you can only use this when you are playing in Live Mode in The Sims 4. You can still edit any lot if you have the freebuild cheat turned on, but you have to take a Sim to the location you wish to build using the mod.
It is a small price to pay for the amazing functionality that comes with the mod, but TwistedMexi is about to make things even better. An upcoming release of the T.O.O.L Mod makes it possible to use it in Build mode, too.
The Release Candidate version that allows for the T.O.O.L Mod’s integration with Build Mode is currently only available through Early Access on TwisedMexi’s Patreon page. In order for this to work, you must also be using TwistedMexi’s Better BuildBuy mod (which we highly recommend anyway).
We thought we’d give it a quick whirl before doing this write up with an extended version to follow once the final version rolls out. This might be only a Release Candidate version of the mod, but it already feels like it is running much slicker in Build Mode. Objects snapping to the terrain and moving into place is far less cumbersome compared to the current version of the T.O.O.L Mod which only works in Sims 4 Live Mode.
For the cover image of this article, we quickly added a riverboat to the ocean in San Myshuno, building from a non-residential lot. It worked like an absolute dream and we can’t wait to take the new Build Mode integrated version of the T.O.O.L Mod for a full spin.
