There’s a new Sims 4 expansion pack coming and the team has teased the trailer for the soon to be revealed winter-themed pack.
The full trailer will premier on 20 October 2020 on the official Sims YouTube channel (or catch it below), but the team has shared a snippet that makes it quite obvious what the new pack is going to be.
The Sims 4 new expansion pack: It’s a snow pack
A winter wonderland pack is something we suspected might be coming before, especially considering some of the community surveys from earlier in 2020. However, we wondered whether it might be a bit soon for that pack to be finalised.
But, as it turns out, despite the pack having been in the works since last year, the survey might have simply been for some of the final touches.
Previous Sims 4 surveys about winter worlds
In 2017, winter vacation was put forward as a possible expansion option. Some of the features suggested in that pack read as follows (taken from the survey):
Winter’s cold has arrived and it’s time to take your Sims for a wintery vacation in The Sims 4 Winter Vacation. Choose your favourite winter accommodations then venture outside to build a snowman and have a snowball fight. Go snowboarding and compete for medals or take a leisurely stroll through the mountains to see what you can uncover.
Choose your lodging: Settle into your winter escape my choose to rent a snowy winter cabin, a family-friendly vacation home or live it up in a hotel complete with room service.
Play in the snow: Take your Sims out to enjoy the snow. Build a snowman and make snow angels or challenge your friends to a snowball fight.
You can read more about what sort of content we might expect to be included in a winter pack from our previous article that looked back at the old surveys. Note that this article was written before the official trailer reveal – and they are not an official announcement by EA or The Sims 4.
The Sims 4 Snow Escape expansion: What might we get?
From the first glimpses at the cover of the new Sims 4 expansion pack’s reveal trailer, it looks like the pack might have some Asian-inspired architecture – and possibly an Asian-inspired mountain world.
It’s definitely a mountain world, in fact, as this tweet from Sim Guru Graham revealed.
We don’t know from the teaser whether this will be a vacation world or a residential world, though. Or perhaps if it will be both.
While a winter-themed pack will certainly be a popular choice, players who bought The Sims 4 seasons might feel a bit aggrieved. It is possible (and very likely) that the snow will be restricted to the new world only, though, which might soften the blow somewhat.
Some of the functionality that was released with The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle expansion pack earlier in 2020 makes it possible to confine certain conditions (like snow) to a single world.
The Sims 4 will announce the game’s tenth expansion pack on Tuesday with a trailer premiering on YouTube at 8:00 Pacific Time – that’s 17:00 South African time (GMT+2).
