PSL standings - all final positions possible for all clubs 2020

South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) could soon return to action after the Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture announced that they’d given the green light for the return of professional football in the country.

The announcement made last week indicated that teams could return to training as well as competitive fixtures.

It does somewhat contradict the Level 3 regulations – under which competitive fixtures for contact sport is banned (but training is allowed.

Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa said the plans submitted by the PSL ?meet and in some instances exceed the required protocol for a safe return to training and to play in a biologically safe environment?.

The league’s executive committee will meet on Tuesday to iron out the details.

When the country’s top division was put on hold earlier in the year due to the global pandemic, almost 78% of fixtures had been completed.

Kaizer Chiefs sit at the top of the PSL standings followed closely by defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

With fixtures likely to be crammed into a short period – to get it all over and done with and the myriad complexities that will come with accommodating qualification for the 2021 African Cup of Nations fixtures, things are bound to get heated.

And while the odds favour Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns strongest for the PSL title, the league remains wide open.

Using data from Transfermrkt, these are the positions all still possible – depending on a variety of results – for each team on the 2019-20 PSL standings.
