PSG vs Barcelona: Champions League line-up, prediction and result

psg predictions

Barcelona have it all to do as they take on Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the second leg of their Uefa Champions League last 16 clash.

Lionel Messi and Co head to the Parc des Princes needing to overturn a whopping 4-1 first leg deficit, with the added possibility of Neymar returning from injury for the Ligue Un champions.

World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe edged closer to assuming the mantle of the world’s best player at the Camp Nou three weeks ago, running riot to score a glittering hat-trick.

Little did Barca suspect what was about to happen when Messi slotted a 27th-minute penalty to put the La Liga side ahead.

But the French whizkid replied five minutes later and added two more after half time, either side of Moise Kean’s headed goal.

With PSG desperate to go one better than their runners-up finish last season, their Spanish opponents face a huge ask if they are to continue their quest to recapture the trophy they last lifted in 2015.

They will have to make do without the defensive experience of Gerard Pique, too, with the veteran ruled out by injury.

Jordi Alba will also need to be assessed, with the likes of Sergi Roberto, Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho all set to miss out.

Kean won’t have the opportunity to repeat his goal scoring feat for the hosts, having since tested positive for Covid-19.

Ex-Barca star Neymar, meanwhile, is in a race against time to be fit to strut his stuff for coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Alessandro Florenzi and Colin Dagba will both need to be assessed as well, with Juan Bernat a definite absentee.

Ander Herrera could come into the home midfield at the expense of Idrissa Gueye.
